Boxed in collector’s packaging and targeted towards gamers, enthusiasts and digital content creators, the AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor 6400+ Black Edition can meet the needs of sophisticated performance users who run multiple processor-intensive applications simultaneously. The 3.2 GHz dual-core processor features an integrated 128-bit dual-channel memory controller, DDR2 memory up to and including PC2 6400 (DDR2-800) unbuffered memory, and a dedicated 2MB L2 cache. The AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor 6400+ Black Edition is now available in North America, Japan, Korea and parts of Europe, priced at $251 WOF (without a fan) for PIB (Processor in a Box).

This processor will provide particular advantages for designers focused on delivering high performance and functionality in single board computing and embedded client systems and is compatible with the recently announced AMD M690T chipset. It also features the high shock and vibration specification Socket S1, offering high reliability for ruggedized computing.
Phenom™ Processor a demonstration in San Francisco, AMD previewed an eight-core platform, codenamed “FASN8,” pronounced “fascinate,” to show the first AMD silicon-based next-generation eight-core platform. The demonstration platform includes two true quad-core AMD Phenom processors, the new DirectX 10 ATI Radeon™ HD 2900 XT, as well as an upcoming AMD next-generation, high-performance chipset, due in the second half of 2007.
